What People have to say,
"I wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the seminar this past week. There was such valuable information taught not only our department, but Casino wide. I would recommend this seminar to all of our employees from front line right up to the CEO! Hopefully everyone will get the chance to take this course some time in the near future. I was stunned and amazed at some of the information and feel I have a better understanding of my surroundings not only at work but at home. Thanks so much for putting this all together. I'm very happy I was given the opportunity to attend. Great Job!"
"This training was one of the best, most informative, interesting and enjoyable trainings that I have ever attended."

Meet Our Instructors

All of Corporate Drug & Alcohol Specialists' instructors are Minnesota Peace Officers with over 90-years of combined Law Enforcement experience, and they were certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as Drug Recognition Experts.

Our highly trained instructors have established programs that meet the needs necessary to protect schools and businesses from liability issues.  This is one of the few in the nation that actually uses Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) as the facilitators.

Bryan Schafer is a 23-year veteran of law enforcement. He has been with the Minneapolis Police Department for the past 16 years, currently serving as Commander of the Department's newly centralized Juvenile Unit. Previous to that, he was the Sergeant in-charge of the 5th Precinct Directed Patrol Team, responsible for innovative ideas to deal with emerging crime patterns in high crime areas. Schafer's Directed Patrol Team received the 2003 Unit of the Year Award by the Minneapolis Police Department for their accomplishments.

Schafer started his law enforcement career in 1983 and completed his Associate Degree at Alexandria Vocational Technical Institute in 1984. Bryan relocated to the State of Wyoming where he attended the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy, graduating as Honor Graduate of his class. Following the academy, he worked as a Police Officer in Rawlins, Wyoming and then as a Deputy Sheriff in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Schafer returned to Minnesota in 1991 and joined the Minneapolis Police Department. He completed the Minneapolis Police Recruit Academy and again graduated with Honors. During his tenure with Minneapolis he has served in Patrol, Traffic, DARE, CODEFOR, Community Response, and Investigations. In May 2005, Bryan completed his Bachelor's Degree at Metropolitan State University, finishing in the Top 10 percent of his class and received the Outstanding Student Award. His senior thesis, Public Perception and Police Attitude (2003) has been accepted for publication. Bryan has also been licensed as a Technical College Instructor through both the MN and WI Board of Technical Colleges.

Bryan formerly coordinated the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program and impaired driving related training for the Minneapolis Police Department. He is one of the premiere instructors in the United States. As a Drug Recognition Instructor, he has trained over 1000 law enforcement officers from 150 departments in 10 states. Schafer was 1 of 8 national instructors selected to instruct the 1st International Drug Recognition School in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, in 1995. Bryan was also invited to Washington D.C. to work on establishing and administering instructional programs for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. His contributions were rewarded in 2000 when he received the National Award for Outstanding Education by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and Citizens Against Drug Impaired Driving (CANDID). He continues to instruct Drug Recognition and Impaired Driving Training for the Minneapolis Police Department and the State of Minnesota.

Other career contributions include Drug Recognition Research at John Hopkins University, Drug Recognition curriculum review/updates for IACP, Drug Recognition training recommendations to the Minnesota Legislature, and numerous prosecutor and judicial training seminars in Minnesota and Wisconsin. To date, Bryan and his partners have presented educational programs to hundreds of personnel in a multitude of fields, including education, transportation, communication, counseling, medical, liquor, hospitality, law enforcement, corrections, probation, insurance, and casinos. Today, they continue to address America's drug problem through Recognizing the Drug Impaired, "Last Call" Beverage Server Education, and Hospitality Crime Prevention programs. Bryan is committed to providing the customer with the latest information, provided by the highest caliber of drug recognition instructors in the country.
